On Tuesday, June 29, the Presidents’ Alliance partnered with the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) and the IMPAC Fund to host “Fulfilling Florida’s Promise: University President’s Forum on the Dream Act and Immigration Reform.” For decades, young undocumented immigrants have enrolled in our higher education institutions, strengthened our workforce, and fulfilled critical labor needs. Congressional action is required to unleash their economic potential. The event discussed the urgent need for our elected leaders to support the bipartisan Dream Act of 2021.
Higher education leaders–including university presidents, administrators, advocates, and students–discussed the importance of the DREAM Act and other immigration solutions that will grow the economy, keep families together, and help us recover from the pandemic. Speakers included Presidents’ Alliance Steering Committee member and Miami Dade College President Emeritus, Eduardo Pardon, as well as Presidents’ Alliance members Greg Haile (President, Broward College), Julio Frenk (President, University of Miami), David Armstrong (President, St. Thomas University) and others.
