The Presidents Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, an alliance of higher education leaders advocating for immigrant students, warned that rising fees might push students to look to study elsewhere at a time when the U.S.’ market share of international students has dropped 8% since 2001.
“Data show that students have many other choices of where to pursue their higher education aspirations, and they are increasingly savvy about which countries offer the most competitive options for them,” the alliance said.
The alliance urged that any increase in fees be “commensurate with improvements in visa services.”
