Washington, D.C.—The Presidents’ Alliance released the following statement in response to the White House’s announcement that President Biden would nominate Ur Jaddou as Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS):

Miriam Feldblum, Executive Director of the Presidents’ Alliance, stated: “The Presidents’ Alliance commends President Biden for nominating Ur Jaddou as the next Director of USCIS. Throughout her career history, Ur brought a wealth of knowledge, experience, and immigration know-how in supporting work on behalf of international students, DACA recipients, and other immigrant students. Ur is an immensely qualified individual who will ensure our nation’s premier immigration benefit agency returns to its congressionally mandated mission of integrating and welcoming immigrants. Concurrently, we look forward to Ur’s efforts to rebuild USCIS’ mission to welcome international students and scholars back to the United States and restore our country’s competitiveness in the international student arena. At a time when the federal government seeks to rebuild an immigration system decimated by four years of purposeful neglect, the Senate should move quickly in holding a hearing on Jaddou’s nomination and putting in place strong and needed leadership.”
