Sign-On Letter: Extending Interview Waiver Authority

Sign-On: Extending Interview Waiver Authority

The Presidents’ Alliance signed on to a letter asking the U.S. Department of State to extend and make permanent the Department’s ability to waive in-person interview requirements for certain nonimmigrant visa applicants. The waiver, which was established in 2022 and is set to expire at the end of the year, has allowed for faster processing for international students and scholars applying for F-1 and J-1 visas to study and complete research in the U.S. Extending the interview waiver authority could help mitigate visa backlogs and support institutions’ efforts to welcome international students and scholars to U.S. campuses.
