Webinar: Why States Can Already Hire Undocumented Students


On March 22, 2023, over 300 people joined the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education & Immigration, the UCLA Center for Immigration Law & Policy, and the Undocumented Student-Led Network on a webinar titled Why States Can Already Hire Undocumented Students.

This informational webinar covered the legal foundation and challenges of the proposal that state entities can hire undocumented students who do not have federal work authorization. Speakers addressed the legal theory behind the proposal, prospects for challenges, implementation issues and questions, the role of students, and implications for other states.
