The United States Appeals Court has rejected a legal challenge by a technology trade union against the Optional Practical Training (OPT) post-study work scheme used by international students.
International education associations, including NAFSA and the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration coordinated an amicus brief in support of the existing OPT rules, signed by 118 U.S. universities.
Earlier this year, the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration called for a strengthening of OPT and expansion of the STEM extension into more health-related fields.
